Our area lost power recently and quite a few customers had a difficult time
re-engaging their garage door opener once the power returned.
Don’t Let a Power Outage Keep Your Garage Door Down. A power outage can wreak havoc on your home or business, but you may not realize that it can also cause problems for your vehicles until your garage door won’t reengage when the power is out. Fortunately, opening the garage door when the power is out is not impossible.
When the power goes out, simply find the release cord that is dangling from you garage door opener, and pull down. This should disengage the garage door opener from the garage door, allowing it to be opened and closed manually.
Re-engaging the garage door opener after the power has returned can be a little tricky. Simply pull the same cord down and then back towards the back of the garage. Pulling the cord at this angle should re-engage your garage door opener.
If you manually locked your door, be sure is unlocked before attempting to use your garage door opener. Needless to say, raising your garage door with an automatic opener while it is manually locked can cause extensive damage.
As always, for all your garage door needs, be sure to call a name you can trust!
